how to use colour part 2

so to continue
colours are divided into two parts
the warm colours
and the cool colours

the warm colours:
basically, warm colours are
the shades of
red, orange and yellow.
the colours of fire.
these colours are mainly used for
warmth in the picture, happiness
and a comfortable environment
and also, impulsivness.

for example, this painting
is done with warm colours,
by looking at it, you can tell
that its summer time and
the day is lazy.
the house looks like a home
which is comfortable and is filled
with life and happiness.

now this painting is also done with warm colours
but it doesnt look like
a very happy environment.
the way that the lady's position in sitting is
looks as though she is in tension,
waiting for someone to come.

the cool colours:
so, cool colours are
basically shades of
blue, green and violet.
they are the colours of water.
they  give off a calm and aswell
as a sad feeling towards the picture.

in this painting, the cool colours give
a calm feeling towards it.
you can feel the cold air
of the high mountains.
it looks like a fresh painting.

painting by Picasso

this is also done with cool colours
but you can tell
that the atmosphere is
a lot sadder and deppressing
than the mountain scene.
the picture tells us that
these three people
are poor, hungry and cold.
